Barr Construction Apprenticeship Graduation

The Barr Construction Institute, the education arm, of
the Associated Builders and Contractors, Cumberland Valley Chapter, held its
annual apprenticeship graduation on Thursday evening, May 26th. 

Special Guest attending the evening festivities
included Secretary Kelly Schulz, Maryland Dept. Labor Licensing &
Regulations (DLLR), Bill Taylor; Chairman Maryland Apprenticeship &
Training Council and Dan Belcher; Director of Workforce Development, National
Center Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Alachua, FL.

Graduating from the program were a total of twenty-one
students in three occupations.

The Barr Construction Institute offers a great alternative to students not
interested in attending college or traditional education environments.  Students who graduate from this program and meet all requirements are considered journey-level technicians within their specified area of study.  These students
have completed “The Other Four-Year Degree”.

 Also recognized during the ceremonies were students who achieved perfect attendance. 
One year perfect attendance; Thomas Smith and Shane Summers, Morgan
Keller Inc; David Tolson, Summit Electric and Brett Deschapelles.  Two years perfect attendance Cory Horton, Kelscott Electric and Caleb Todd, Williams Plumbing. 
 Three years perfect attendance, James Thomas,
and special recognition to Maxwell Yeater, Your Comfort Services for achieving
four years of Perfect Attendance.
