ABC CVC welcomes our New President Amos McCoy

As the new President of the Cumberland Valley Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and my career.

I would like to first say thank you to all of the staff and members that I have met so far for the warm welcome that I have received. I would also like to say thanks to Will for the tremendous job that he has done with the chapter and all of the help that he has given me at the beginning of this transition. I wish Will the best as he starts his retirement.

I have spent the past decade in the concrete block manufacturing industry, starting my career in Chambersburg at Nitterhouse. I then went to work for Oldcastle and moved to Chicago to manage a plant for a year and a half. I had the opportunity to return to the east coast for Oldcastle and manage a group of plants in the Eastern Pa and NJ area for several years. I then became operations manager for York Building Products managing all of their manufacturing plants for the past 5 years.

Over the past several years I have been involved with several national and state organizations related to concrete block. During this time I have become very passionate about the education of our workforce and have recently sat on the education and training committee with the National Concrete Masonry Association. I am looking forward to working on the issues that are important to each of you and to the existence of our industry.

I am committed to working hard every day to ensure that the merit shop philosophy and the education of our workforce perseveres. We will also continue to push legislative issues that have an impact on each of your businesses. Some of our future goals will be to increase membership, increase member participation, and to develop new non dues income to help sustain the chapter’s efforts throughout the year. In order to ensure that all of the great programs and memberships continue to grow, we will need everyone’s help!

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in the near future.  If there is anything that I or my staff can do for you, please contact me at the ABC office at 301-739-1190 or my email: [email protected].
